This year I have returned to the PCT to hike a small section that I have still not hiked. You see, in 2021 I hiked from Old Station to Canada, returning home because of fires on the southern half of the PCT. In 2022 I started at Old Station again and hike south to Kearsarge Pass where I exited for the year because of drought conditions beyond Walker Pass. Then in 2023 I hiked from Mexico northbound to Kennedy Meadows stopping just short of Whitney. Twice I have hiked up to the doorstep of Mount Whitney and stopped. This year I will finally hike over Forrester Pass and summit Mount Whitney. It only makes sense to hike southbound from Chester. (That makes sense, right?) Why not bag Yosemite and the JMT before finishing at Whitney? It’s a 600-mile warmup hike. Let’s go.
